We used to have one of these, but we decided to try something new. Over the past few years we've tried about 5 different brands and styles. It not only works better that the others, it works while the others don't. Get the Egg and be happy.
I have some backyard chickens so get lots of fresh eggs. Maybe it's because they're fresh, I've often had trouble peeling my fresh hard boiled eggs vs store-bought eggs that I boiled in water following the usual instructions, including the cold water dunk. Other reviewers with fresh eggs commented that they no longer have peeling problems. I've now used this thing 4 times and the peels almost fall off. Love this thing! As for the omelet function, I haven't tried it because I like somewhat complicated omelets. The poacher works with some experimentation regarding water level. However, I'm not fond of triangular poached eggs due to the provided tray. So this is just a hard boil egg appliance to me which is fine. Clean up is pretty easy but it's also easy for the leftover water in the domed lid to end up on your counter top so prepare accordingly. To reiterate the directions, the TOP OF THE EGG to pierce is NOT THE POINTY END. Eggs are sold with the pointy end down in the carton because the air bubble in the membrane is in the fat end and you want it to stay there. If you store it the other end up, the air pocket can migrate and allow a break in the membrane in the process. Bacteria can enter this way.Added on 8/29/2019: AND the lid makes a great colander for washing fruit like grapes, blueberries, strawberries, etc, swishing them around in the water while holding your palm over the bottom holes and then removing your hand to let the water drain.
I love this dish drying rack; the two levels effectively double the amount of space I have for clean dishes! Before buying, I'd recommend making sure it will fit under your cabinets! I have about 1.5 inches of the drying rack's top level that is blocked by my cabinets; I can still use it for larger spoons and things that would take a lot of space in the silverware basket, but just be warned! Make sure it will fit before buying it!
So I have been reading about these egg cookers and after researching the reviews I chose the Cuisinart. Very well made and a breeze to use. We have used it about a dozen times and it has worked flawlessly. We get the water from our filtered refrigerator so it is not distilled. After every use I put about 3 tbs of white vinegar in the bottom and let set for about half hour or whenever and it cleans up like new.
